About the village
Not far from chalet Traumhaus, right next to the Riesneralm ski slope, lies the village of Donnersbachwald. The village is part of the Oberennstal ski area and is located in the Styrian region. The village is friendly with a number of charming restaurants and cafés.
Around Donnersbachwald, you can do lots of other activities besides skiing and snowboarding. For example, enthusiasts can take a toboggan run of around 3.5 km, which is directly connected to the village. It is also possible for the whole family to take a sleigh tour from the village. Families will experience a lot of joy and fun in Donnersbachwald!
In wide surroundings, there are several hiking trails through beautiful unspoilt nature.
About the ski-resort
Ski fun at high altitude, some 15 minutes’ walk or 5 minutes’ drive by car from Traumhaus is the ski-Riesneralm – Donnersbachwald (altitude; 973- 1850 metres). A well-kept secret in the Alps with winter fun for the whole family, both beginners and more advanced skiers. The area is very snow-sure and you almost never have to wait long at the ski lifts. At the valley station you will find ski rental and luxury ski lockers, with helmet and glove heating in the lockers. Here you can store your gear perfectly after a great day’s skiing. At the valley station there are not only several cosy restaurants and bars, but also a small supermarket for most daily shopping.
The Riesneralm ski area is ecological with its own hydropower plant that provides more than enough green electricity to prepare the slopes and power the ski lifts. All power generated more is fed back into the grid.
